The Great Commandment:
"Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 22:37-39
To fully love my Lord I must love others, for others are part of Him:
"No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another,
God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."
1 John 4:12
"But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did."
1 John 2:5-6
The orphan is a tangible example of who we were before we received Christ and God adopted each of us. Could God be using them to show us how to love one another in the way He called us to?
The Call within the Call
"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of Godthe Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distressand refusing to let the world corrupt you"
James 1:27 NLT
Our true hearts must not beconform to the world, but instead value the orphan as God does; Thenand only then will we have thecompassion that He has called us to have for them which will move us intoaction on behalf of His orphaned... which is to love them as ourselves. We are not all called to adopt but we are allcalled to care.
"Let me give you a new command: Love oneanother. In the same way Iloved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that youare my disciples-when they see the love you have for each other."
John 13:34-35
How much does God value the Orphaned?
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
1 John 3:16
Over 45 times God mentions the fatherless/orphaned in the Bible.
The Need
...143 Million orphansWorldwide
...535,000 orphans in theUnited States
...3000 orphans in HillsboroughCounty
"Although my father and my mother have forsakenme, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child]."
Psalm 27:10 AMP
The "orphan" on Earthincludes physically orphaned and socially orphaned children; That is some kidshave no family alive (physically orphaned), while other kids (socially orphaned) have family that for financial, governmental, social reasons, etc.have relinquished their rights to the child and given custody of the child toan appointed non-family arrangement (International orphanage, United StatesFoster Care, Domestic adoption, etc.).
By His Will (An Eternal family with Him and Earthly family with us):
"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families..." Psalm 68:5-6
By the Lord's example, adoption:
"He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will." Ephesians 1:5
By feeding them with the everlasting truth, God's Word:
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink..."Matthew 25:35
By inviting them into our lives, we invite the Lord into our life... Just as God has invites us into His Kingdom:
"...I was a stranger and you invited me in," Matthew 25:35
God intends for them to come into our lives:
"When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner,
the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands." Deuteronomy 24:19
In our lives how long? Until they are satisfied; Could that be until they have a sense of belonging to the Lord and His people:
"When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied." Deuteronomy 26:12
Those whom have received Christ, are to be reaching Tampa and beyond, now...
"But you shall receive power(ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, andyou shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to theends (the very bounds) of the earth." Acts1:22 AMP
The Idlewild's Mission isembraced through F.A.C.E.S. as we answer the call together:
Exalt the Savior:
We exalt the Savior bybringing opportunity and encouragement to the orphan to worship the Lord.
Evangelize the Sinner:
We evangelize the orphanedsinner by bridging oppression through encapsulating the weak in Christ.
Enlist the Servant:
We enlist the servant byboundary-less embracement through spiritual and Earthly kinship to theabandoned
Equip the Saved:
We equip the fatherlessfound in Christ Jesus by building eternal endeavors through education
Edify the Saints:
We edify the saints byinviting the orphaned to becoming part of our community's next generation inChrist for fellowship
... All through the power ofGod's Holy Word
Presently, F.A.C.E.S. ministry's action focus has been on connectingThe Church in two ways:
Enlisting servants byfaith to enter into "vehicles" through which God (He's the driver) willequip them to care for His orphaned.
Vehicle examples:
FACES Monthly Thursday Support & Awareness Meeting

HKI (Hillsborough Kids, Inc.) FaithBased Initiative (Christian countywidecommittee effort)
Evangelize orphaned sinnersby sharing the overflow of our own living worship of the Lord with the childrenin need;

The Question?
What has God been impressing upon your heart over the lastseveral months regarding a response to the orphan's cry?
"Do not merely listen tothe word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22
