The year 2011 has been declared the Year to Become at Idlewild. During the year, the church will focus on each individual growing to become everything God intended. Becoming a child of God begins a process in the Christian that should be a lifelong journey of progressively becoming more and more like Christ. The focus is not on what we do, but who we are in Him. If we will simply be who we are in Christ—a new creature in whom Christ abides and through whom he works—then we will gradually live out our salvation and become the mighty men and women of God that He desires for us to be.

During the year, our entire church will be working through a one-year devotional booklet that focuses on four facets of becoming all God intends us to be:

• Becoming a Member
• Becoming Mature
• Becoming a Minister
• Becoming Missional

Year to Become daily devotional books, written by Idlewild’s pastors, are available for purchase at Event Registration. Our church begins the devotional books starting January 3. Idlewild will celebrate a special Year to Become Kick-Off on January 9, including a special message series by Pastor Ken Whitten. Begin praying that God will use this year to help you to become everything He wants you to be.
