Confession and Repentance of Sin Is Necessary For Fellowship With God And Revival Among God’s People.

You can always be confident of God’s love and forgiveness because Jesus died for you. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8) Your sin is forgiven past, present and future  at the time of your salvation. You have a new, holy  identity in Christ, and a place reserved for you in heaven.

Many people do not look on sin as being very bad, but you must remember  that sin is offensive to God and harmful to you and to others. It took the death and resurrection of Jesus to extend  mercy to cover sin. Sin still hinders God’s work, it breaks your fellowship with Jesus and it robs you of God’s blessings. God regards sin as high treason or betrayal, “…the house of Israel went into exile for their iniquity because they acted treacherously against Me….” (Ezekiel 39:23 NASV) When you sin, you act as an enemy of God rather than yielding to Him as your Lord and Savior.

Prayerfully, consider the following scriptures, prayers and questions, then go through these questions one by one. Answer truthfully each question with the answers, ”yes” or “no”. Deal with or settle each question before moving to the next. These are not just to be read, but prayed through. As  you are convicted of sin, confess it to God. Be willing to make it right, and you can walk in the cleansing and forgiveness provided by Jesus.  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Be sure to name your sin to God, for example,  ”Lord, I have not put You first in my plans,” or “I have neglected Your Word and prayer.” Do not make excuses for sin of any kind in your life.  “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.” (Proverbs 28:13) Yield each area of your life freshly to the Holy Spirit.

No matter what others do or don’t do, leave nothing undone on your part. God may work through you to bring about a great spiritual awakening. He may begin as you fulfill the  requirements shown through the Holy Spirit and His Word.  Revival from the presence of the Lord begins today, as you adjust to His truth.
