Anticipating the King – December 1, 2019

He is Creator

Reading: Genesis 1

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Thus, begins the revelation of God to humankind. We are first to recognize God as Creator. God creates the earth, light, goodness, time, waters and land, the heavenlies, plants, animals, and humankind. God sees all that He made and declares it to be good, very good. God made humankind in Our (the Trinity) image, Our likeness to rule.

So, we ask one another, “how are you and I representing God’s image?” “How are you and I ruling in a way that reflects the goodness of God?” “How are you and I enjoying His good creation?”

God’s revelation of Himself, and we cannot know God unless He reveals Himself, begins with God creating a realm and people to rightly rule in His realm. There is great diversity and unity in His creation. There is great goodness and opportunity for people to enjoy nature and the Creator of all. God gives us time on this earth to bless just as He blessed the male and female that He created.

As we anticipate God with us, may we remember He created humankind with a purpose and He values being with us. May we be careful to not get so wrapped up in the creation, the gifts and the activities, that we forget the Creator. It is time to worship the King.

Romans 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
