Celebrating The Everlasting King – Day 19

Celebrating The Everlasting King – Day 19

King of Glory

I am a child of a military man. We didn’t live by family, so our neighbors adopted us as family. I remember one Christmas when our house burned down. We were in Bloomfield, Iowa and my Dad was in Viet Nam. We watched the fire and the amazing firemen from our neighbor’s window, across the street from our house. My brothers and I knew that our Christmas gifts were not going to make it out of the burning fire. The neighbors also knew and somehow got out and shopped for our family. We had a present exchange in the neighbor’s home.

I remember feeling loved by the community, appreciated for the sacrifice our family made for the nation. In Iowa, the military men serving in Viet Nam were honored. The people valued the army as committed to protecting the people.

Psalm 24:10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of armies, He is the King of glory.

An army dressed for battle and aligned to defend is an awesome sight. God is described as the glorious leader, defender of His people. Armies intervene for those weaker. They die fighting for others to be free.
