The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Author: Pastor Chip Luter

Titus 3:4, 5

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.”

Today is day 8 in 21 days of prayer. The key scripture is Mark 4:35 which says, He [Jesus] said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” As we think about how the Gospel of Jesus changes lives this scripture reminds us of the security of His words. When Jesus speaks things happen. What happens soon after this passage is a fiery storm that rattles the faith of these disciples. It’s interesting that Jesus leads them to a situation where He knows they will be challenged but also He knows He will be with them. When we receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ we don’t just receive the Savior and Lord, we also gain a great Shepherd.

Since He is our Shepherd we can depend on His Words and His will. Jesus says “Let us go across to the other side” and with that we should be willing listen, obey, and follow His leading. Even when He leads us to challenging times, He still is worthy of our trust. My dad used to always say, “When you can’t trace His hand, you must trust His heart.” If we have trusted Christ to save us from hell, He is even more worthy of our trust in our daily lives.

As you pray this week, reflect on your level of trust. Are you trusting in Jesus for everything? Or is there some area of trust that you are struggling with?
