Hello Idlewild, my name is Teresa Ankrom and I am passionate about disciple making and also encouraging other believers to know that they too can be a disciple maker! Making disciples begins with living your own victorious life in Christ and then sharing that with others.

Do you realize that most Christians have never discipled anyone or even shared Christ with someone? Why do you think this is?

There are generally two reasons:
1. They are not living a victorious Christian life.
2. They don’t know how to communicate their faith effectively.

What about you?

Here are eight practical steps to help you be a faithful witness and disciple maker:
1. Be sure you are a Christian! If you are unsure, how can you teach others?

2. Confess any sin in your life (exhale). We can’t witness in the Spirit with unconfessed sin in our life.

3. Be filled with the Spirit (inhale) – if we are spiritually breathing and God is on the throne of our hearts, then we can trust God to help us witness! He is a great partner!

4. Be prepared to share your faith whenever and wherever the chance arises. God can use you with just the knowledge you have today! (Romans 10:17)

5. Remember to pray – this is vital! People have free will but our prayers help them see the truth and make them free to choose Christ (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). As you pray, claim God’s promises for the ones you pray for (2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 5:14-15). Be confident of the Spirit’s work, even when you cannot see results, keep praying and realize no one is hopeless.

6. Go and tell! Realize God is with us giving us His power but He can’t use us if we don’t share.

7. Talk about Christ (Colossians 1:28). Don’t force feed the gospel – let God choose timing and make opportunities and be confident that God is creating discipleship opportunities for you.

8. Expect hearts to respond to the Gospel! We have nothing to be ashamed of and much to be excited about (Romans 1:16)! People are seeking, whether they know it or not. Augustine said “there is a God-shaped vacuum in all of us that only God can fill.”

Remember, “success in witnessing is simply sharing Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God!” (Bill Bright) All Christians have the power to witness to others and then walk with those new believers through the discipleship process!
