Hello everyone, my name is Tonya Sloan. I lead the food service ministry at Idlewild. We serve food for the nourishment of our bodies, but today I want to talk to you about some daily BREAD for the soul.

–What is the best spiritual food? I can find that recipe in this book—THE BIBLE. This has recipes that never fail, no matter how long it takes.

–Every one of us has played the waiting game and no one likes it. Traffic jams and long lines at the grocery store are frustrating, but you hang in there because you know the traffic will eventually sort out and the check-out line will gradually diminish. Your patience is tested, but you survive the ordeal.

–But what if you waited with no end in sight? What if the one thing you wanted most never arrived?

–From a Christian perspective, what if you waited for Jesus to return and he never did?

This must have crossed Paul’s mind as he sat shackled in a Roman prison. If anyone had cause for worry, it was him. After a lifetime of beatings and jail time his faith remained steadfast.

Even in today’s world with all the chaos, anger, violence, natural disasters, persecutions and those that believe good is evil and evil is good. We have to remain steadfast. It’s hard to wait, but while we do, we are called to service. we should take advantage of these times and continue sharing the gospel and win as many to Christ as we can.

It’s understandable that we get caught up with the “WHEN” of Christ’s return. We are intrigued with predictions about the future, and God has given us clear signs that his coming is near. But more important than the when of the second coming is the “WHO” has blessed assurance. I don’t know exactly when he’s coming, but one thing I’m sure: My Jesus won’t forget me! And that is the truth for those of us who wait.

In 2 Timothy 1:12 says:

” I know who I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to him until that day.”

Recite it often, and follow 3 simple rules that guarantee victory in the waiting game:

–Never give up on the End of the Story

–Never give up on knowing Jesus.

–And never give up on the daily BREAD.

Until then–Enjoy another beautiful day that the Lord has made!
