Daily Living – Episode 8 – Pastor Brandon Arnold

Helping each one live in the rescuing power of Jesus

Author: Pastor Brandon Arnold

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
– 2 Corinthians 5:18

Today we look at such a powerful passage in the book of 2 Corinthians. In chapters 4 and 5, Paul reminded the Corinthian Believers that in spite of the darkness of this world, and the sufferings we face, God has RESCUED us from the eternal penalty and suffering of sin! And not only has God rescued us, but He has also equipped us to live on this earth with the power of the Holy Spirit to fight against sin in this present age, and also to display the glory of Jesus and His Gospel to those who are perishing.

Paul has just stated that some people may think we are crazy as we follow Jesus, some may think we are like everyone else, and we simply follow “our own truth”, but the bottom line is that it doesn’t matter what others think, for the true follower of Jesus there is a “constraint”, a binding and compelling nature within us that motivates us and empowers us to “no longer live to please ourselves, but instead live for Christ who died and was raised for us” (verse 15). We now have put off our old self, and become a new creation in Christ.

It is these very blessings, and this “new nature” within us, that empowers us to live daily in the ministry of reconciliation, and displaying the rescuing power of Jesus.

Daily Living Application: Would you ask the Lord today to reveal to you the areas of your life where you are living to please yourself instead of Him? Would you ask God to help you surrender those areas to Him so that your life will reflect His rescuing power and ministry of reconciliation to those you come in contact with?
