FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is provided in the cost:
The cost covers 4 hours of fishing, rods, reels, bait and tackle. (Normally a $60 per person value)
No fishing license required
What should I bring:
We recommend that you bring extra money for parking ($5 should cover it), clothes you can get dirty in, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and Bonine / Dramamine (if you are prone to sea-sickness.) **If you need to take something for sea sickness, we recommend that you take it the night before. Most sea-sick prevention medications will make you sleepy, and we want you to be wide awake to reel in those BIG fish.
Do I need any extra money?
We recommend that you bring extra money for:
- Parking (Cost is $1 per hour – so $5 should cover it)
- Food, snacks, and drinks on board (click here for menu and prices)
- Cleaning / filleting of fish upon return
If my dad isn’t able to come, can I still go?
We know that not all dads will be able to come, and we also know that not everyone has a father or father figure to invite. Uncles, grandfathers, guardians, and “fill-in” dads are all welcome. If your dad isn’t available to come, and you want to join a friend and their father, please feel free to ride with them to the marina.
If you need a “Fill-in” dad for the day, please contact Pastor Patrick Newbill at pnewbill@idlewild.org, and we’ll make sure you have one!
**A little note: Drop off + pick up is at the Marina. Transportation is not provided by the church.
Is there a galley on board to purchase food and drinks?
Yes! You can purchase food, snacks, and drinks on board! Click HERE for the full menu and prices.
Can / should we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes – You are more than welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks on board!
What do you recommend to prevent sea-sickness?
We personally recommend Bonine, or Dramamine. We will be at least 10 miles off shore, and we won’t be able to turn the boat around for anyone that gets sick, so make sure you’re all good to go!
**If you need to take something for sea sickness, we recommend that you take it the night before. Most sea-sick prevention medications will make you sleepy, and we want you to be wide awake to reel in those BIG fish.
Do we get to keep the fish we catch?
Yes! When you arrive, you will be given a unique number that will correspond to the fish that you catch. When you catch a fish, the deck hands will come de-hook it. Tell the deck hand your number, and they will put your fish on your number. When you leave, you will be given all of your fish.
**You can have your fish cleaned/ filleted on site for an additional cost.
