House to House Prayer

House to House Prayer

“I…have taught you publicly and from house to house. I have declared…that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 20:20b-21) “…Paul…took the disciples with him and had discussions daily…so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.” (Acts 19:9b, 10b)

Every person in the province of Asia on the Mediterranean Sea which included the great city of Ephesus heard the “word of the Lord” or the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the time that Paul and His friends and disciples ministered there. That is incredible! They spoke boldly in synagogues, a lecture hall, in open spaces, and especially from house to house for Jews and Greeks to turn in repentance to God and to have faith for salvation in the Lord Jesus.

Here is a great passage of evangelism in Paul’s missionary journeys that we can replicate and that we can actually pray before we go out, and as we go out, to share the gospel. As you walk through your neighborhood physically or virtually, pray for the people who live in each house. You can pray from “house to house.” A great online tool with resources that will assist in your praying is blesseveryhome .com

This web site will help you to know your neighbors’ names and to pray for them. You can simply log on for free and commit to pray for a selected number of your neighbors by name as you prayer walk physically or virtually. You will receive an email, if you choose, that reminds you of five different neighbors to pray for each day. There is also a free, bless every home app.

As you walk, drive or look at the provided map, you can have daily prayer for your neighbors by name and location. In time, you may see ways that you can love or care for some of your neighbors personally. Pray that the Holy Spirit will bring salvation to your neighbors as you eventually share the Gospel of Jesus with them.

Even before going to would you pray for one of your neighbors? You can pray,

Holy Spirit please move ________ to turn to God in repentance and to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am willing to introduce him/her to Jesus and to show him/her in the Bible how he/she can be saved and become a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Remember as you pray that Paul said in 20:24, “…I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
