The Sunflower Maze by Jodie Montgomery
I get that Mother’s Day is bittersweet or even hard for many dear people. I grieve the death of a number of great moms- this year was especially poignant reading a heartfelt tribute by the son of a dear friend that awaits us in glory-the son’s first Mother’s Day without his mom. I mourn with those that haven’t had children and with some that have! We long to nurture and we long for our children to walk in truth (3 John 4).
Mothers are hugely influential. Good moms are an indescribably valuable blessing from God and I know some GREAT ones. Moms matter. So as long as possible I’m enjoying my mom and my children as much as possible on mom’s day.
This year we did something rather unique. My hubby and two of my three wonderful children took me to a farm and sunflower maze. You want  flowers for mom’s day? Get to a maze. The flowers are bigger than your face and taller than Tebow. My grown kids were such fun! We learned farming facts, took pictures and played farmyard Yahtzee with wooden dice big enough for the farmers to see that I was losing bad.
My hubby waited forty five minutes to pay $7 for lemonade in a mason jar. It was delicious. We battled little children to get to the fresh cut sunflowers before they were all sold so that we’d have a few to take my mom. I thank God for the privilege of being a mom and I pray that the spiritual seeds we moms are planting grow as tall as those beautiful sunflowers.
“But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭
