Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, wait, I say on the Lord! Psalm 27:14

Are you a lady-in-waiting? Are you constantly finding yourself in the midst of life, relationships, ministry, commitments, and all else that is happening; moving and yet waiting on the Lord for His answer or peace or guidance? As long as we walk in these shadow lands, we are waiting for Him and for ourselves and those we love to become more aware of His goodness.

As we wait, it is important to maintain a good perspective. This is like placing our view on the horizon when we travel so that we do not lose balance. This is essential in overcoming the frustration and worry that typically accompany waiting. In “Seeing with New Eyes”, David Powlison exhorts the reader to see life through the lens of Scripture rather than interpreting Scripture based on the confusion of life. Powlison recommends the book of Ephesians as a great start in establishing that Scriptural lens. So I read Ephesians and here is what I found:

Foundational Truth for the Journey:

God’s complete plan (Ephesians 1:3-12)

God’s provision of His Spirit for life change in the believer (Ephesians 1:13-15)

Paul’s prayer for the believer (Ephesians 1:16-23)

What it means to be alive! (Ephesians 2)

God’s plan for His Body (Ephesians 3)

Clear counsel on how to live out each moment entrusted to us (Ephesians 4)

Clear counsel for relationships (Ephesians 5:1-6:9)

Clear instruction on being strong (Ephesians 6:10-20)

As I wait, I appreciate good counsel. I also value truth that applies to everything that comes across my path. Ephesians is an encouraging resting place for the weary traveler.
