Nature Girl

By Jodie Montgomery
Job 39:1 “Do you know the time the mountain goats give birth? Do you observe the calving of the deer?..”

Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
I do enjoy nature. I have my limits though, I am anti-mosquito and deeply appreciative of air conditioning. I’ve had some exciting nature moments: finding snakes as I garden, walking overwhelmingly gorgeous gardens in Jane Austen land, a Florida panther when out surveying, a too close encounter with an ostrich, snorkeling and sand dollars while avoiding jelly fish, being covered with red ants, being covered with yellow jackets, …. I am thankful to get to walk outdoors often and to experience the diversity of life and color. I respect nature and recognize its’ dangers. My first impressions of God were through His glorious creation.    There is another aspect of nature common to the Bible student, the nature of humankind. Scripture cautions about the heart. Scripture teaches that our nature either reflects the devil or God.  Scripture teaches that the children of God ought to think differently than the children of the devil. The nature of flesh and bondage to sin is in conflict with the nature of His Spirit. By nature, we are born as children of wrath. By grace, we may become children of His divine nature.   It is the believer’s hope to radiate the glory of God, to represent His nature through purification by His Son. To walk in the Spirit, valuing the nature of God, is to experience life. God, the Creator of all, renews our nature as we draw near to Him. I thank God for His nature imparted to me. His children are destined for a new creation, a new heaven and earth and a resurrected body that perfectly fits a new nature.
2 Peter 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
