Missions Impact Conference is over but the mission continues.

We hope you were able to attend the 2021 Missions Impact Conference and we hope you and your family enjoyed the fun but now that it is over we don’t want you to forget that the mission continues, there is so much work to be done and you need to be involved.

The Missions Impact Conference started with Steve McKinion teaching us how to share Jesus without freaking out. Steve taught us to think of evangelism as building a relationship with someone and intentionally planning to share Jesus as a part of everyday living. We learned how to have gospel conversations in a culture where there are so many wrong ideas about who Jesus is.

On Friday and Sunday we got to meet some of our career missionaries that Idlewild supports through our prayers and finances. Spending time with them was a lot of fun and an encouragement for them at the Friday night Passport To The Nations event and the lunch on Sunday afternoon.

What a joy it was to have the congregation from Idlewild En Español joining us and helping to lead us in bilingual worship services Sunday morning. During the service we heard some more stories from the mission field about some of the work that is being accomplished in Brazil and Africa.

Psalm 67:1-3 ESV  May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!

The message from our missions pastor, Edgar Aponte, reminded us of why we do missions and how important it is for us to be passionate for mission work in our own lives. Pastor Edgar showed us from Psalm 67 that we have been given the responsibility of taking the blessings of God to the nations so that the nations will be glad and rejoice and worship him.

Do not disconnect God’s blessing in your life from God’s purpose for you. Ask God to show you ways in which you can use your gifts for the advancement of the gospel.

We were challenged to go against the self centered nature of our culture and use our blessings to serve others so that they will experience God’s love through us. We need to pray for our missionaries but we learned that we also need to pray for a burning passion and zeal for missions for ourselves.

If you tell me that you follow Jesus and you have no interest in the nations knowing and praising him, I don’t know what you mean when you say you follow Jesus.

Missionary work isn’t just a career or a lifestyle for the professionals, missionary work should be the natural response to the blessings that we have received from God. We need to look for ways to connect God’s blessings with our purpose.

The conference may be over but the work continues. We need to ask God to give us a passion that will lead us to use our gifts for the advancement of the gospel.
