Prayer Requests Week of 9/29/2019

OFFICE OF THE PASTOR

Dr. Ken Whitten
Senior Pastor

Personal:

  1. I am grateful for the 30 years God has given me and Mrs. Ginny at Idlewild. I am humbled when I look back and see the work that God has done at Idlewild. Remembering is a central theme in Scripture. God constantly asked his people to “remember not to forget.” Praise God with me for His faithfulness to this Pastor and to you these last 30 years.
  2. Praise God with me for our staff. Pray for their walk with the Lord. Pray for revival among us.
  3. Praise God for our deacons and lay leaders. Pray for their refinement and purity before God.
  4. Praise God for the people he has brought to worship at Idlewild. Pray for their sanctification and growth in Jesus.
  5. Praise God with me for my beautiful family. Praise God for my godly wife, Mrs. Ginny. Praise God that my kids and grandkids are all walking with the Lord and serving him faithfully. Pray that the little ones will know Jesus as their Savior early on in life.

Ministry:

  1. Please pray for me and Mrs. Ginny as we lead a group on an Israel tour this month. Pray that God would do a work in all of our hearts as we take in the sights of the Holy Land.
  2. We are getting ready for our Global Impact Conference (GIC). Pray that God will use our speakers and conversations to initiate MOVEMENT in our people.
  3. Pray for our missionaries. We will have an opportunity to pray for them by name and requests. Let’s do that together.
  4. Pray for our leadership and committee members. Pray for wisdom in decisions concerning 2020.
  5. Pray that I make wise choices concerning speaking invitations that pour in on a regular basis.

Brian McDougall
Executive Pastor

Personal:

  1. Diana: Please pray for Diana as she is recovering from an orthopedic surgery. Diana is making good progress, but has good days and bad days. Thanks so much for praying for her.
  2. Dad: He recently has had some health setbacks. Please continue to pray for Dad’s healing to speak more clearly and to swallow better, both issues are issues from a recent stroke. Dad has just turned 96 years old, we are celebrating his continued gift to us.
  3. Leta: For my sister, that she will have health, courage and strength as she is the full time caregiver for my Dad. Since Dad’s recent health setback the level of care Leta provides has to be stepped up quite a bit. Leta is a godly pro, but needs our prayers for strength and endurance.
  4. Logan and Aimee: For my son and daughter in law to continue to grow closer to God and each other as a newlywed couple. Praise the Lord and thanks for your prayers, the Lord has blessed Logan with a great job.
  5. Lauren and Gabe: Praising God for their new married life together.

Ministry:

  1. Church Vision and Mission: That our members would engage in the Vision and Mission of the Church.
  2. LEAD: That LEAD(Leadership Engagement and Discipleship) would be effective in thousands of Idlewild members discovering their spiritual gifts, being equipped therein and serving in the area that God has planned for them (Eph. 2:10, 4:11-12). You will be hearing a lot more about “Join the Movement” as that is the messaging that has gone live to the Church for LEAD.
  3. Accelerate: Praising the Lord for the great progress that is being made by the generous givers of Idlewild to pay off the debt of the Church.
  4. 2020 Ministry Plan: Please pray for the staff as they are working on their Ministry Plans for 2020. Pray that we will follow God’s perfect leading as we pray and plan for the move of God that He wants to do here at Idlewild.
  5. Please pray that members would be led by the spirit to give generously at the end of year to make up for the year to date shortfalls to our 2019 Ministry Plan.
  6. Please pray that all Idlewild members would joyfully have 1,000s of gospel conversations with those that are far from God.
