Public Schools: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

Public Schools: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

God allowed us to stay plugged into schools even though we could not physically go into the schools to mentor the students due to Covid restrictions. In December Idlewild paid the lunch debt of all Pasco students and juniors and seniors in Hillsborough County. We had several projects from campus beautification to helping schools with supplies and uniforms. We also received a number of donations from our members to help families in need. One of our busiest weeks was Teacher Appreciation Week. We partnered with McAlister’s, Chick-Fil-A, Station House BBQ, and Rick and Beans,  to provide lunch to 8 of our school partners during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3 – 7. What an amazing time we had encouraging our teachers and staff during this special week.  We appreciate what teachers do and this is one way we could show our love and appreciation. In addition to lunch, our Idlewild Special Needs Team (Trellis)  prepared care packages for the teachers including a note from Idlewild.

We believe that we will be able to send mentors and volunteers to serve in person our partner schools for the 2021-2022 school year. Start praying now about how you can get involved. Our current schools are Kenly, Oak Park, Just, BT Washington, Miles, Sgt. Smith, Graham, and Cypress Creek. If you would like to know more about how to get involved register to receive updates here: https://www.idlewild.org/service-opportunities/
