The Hope Team

The Hope Team

What is the Hope Team?

The Hope Team exists to serve Jesus by serving students in the Idlewild Student Ministry. The Idlewild Students Team is committed to developing those on the Hope Team to becoming a strong group of students who are able to teach God’s Word, plan student events/meetings, have input on student ministry planning, lead certain aspects of the ministry, represent the church well in their daily lives, develop strong Christian character, learn leadership skills, and put into practice the overall heart of Christ through servant leadership.

Who is the Hope Team for?

The Hope Team is composed of students who have a sincere desire to serve Jesus Christ and develop their leadership skills. This is not an initiative for every student but rather a ministry opportunity that is accompanied by high standards, high commitment, and high expectations. Skill level is not the basic requirement of leadership however there are four key facets expected in the commitment:

    • Personal Growth, Character, and Responsibility
    • Maturity on Spiritual, Emotional, & Social Levels
    • Ministry Involvement and Commitment
    • Personal Leadership Development

Hope Team Expectations

It should be understood that the Student Team is not looking for perfection from those seeking to be a part of the Hope Team. However, the Scriptures articulate that leadership does require a higher standard (Prov. 16:12, Matt. 18:6) and it is our desire is to help students grow into the leader God has created them to be. Because of this, it must be understood that everyone on the Hope Team is held to a higher standard and as such, there are requirements for being a part of this team. If you are unable to meet the following requirements, you will not be admitted onto the Hope Team.

All members of the Hope Team must…

    • Demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus exemplified in both their private and public lives.
    • Complete the Hope Team Application.
    • Receive a positive recommendation from their Group Leader (the student team will contact your leader).
    • Sign and abide by the Hope Team Covenant.
    • Be able to commit to serving for at least one school year (August – May)
    • Be present at each Hope Team meeting (periodically throughout the semester)
    • Have 75% attendance on Wednesday Nights and Sunday mornings.
