Frequently Asked Questions

family

What does Idlewild have for my family?

There’s something for every member of the family at Idlewild. From preschool to senior adults, you’ll find small groups, special events, and more designed just for you. At Idlewild, you can get involved in music, recreation, community outreach, missions and evangelism, and more. Plus you’ll find special events throughout the year including our Global Missions Conference, Men’s and Women’s Ministry events, Vacation Bible School for children, the Christmas presentations, and more designed to help you grow spiritually, fellowship with friends, and reach out to others.

What will my children do while I’m in service?

Children are important to Idlewild! While you attend the Worship Service and Adult Bible Fellowship Groups, the kids, based on their ages, will be in special programs designed just for them with caring teachers who want to show them Jesus’ love. Preschoolers will stay in their classes both hours. For kindergarten through fifth grade, one hour they are in their small group classroom, and the other hour, they attend our children’s church: Kidz Cove.

Where’s the entrance?

Idlewild has two main worship center entrances. If you park on the Van Dyke road side of the church, you will park in our Red/Blue parking lot side, and will enter through large covered entrance, leading you to Welcome Center 2, where you can ask any questions you may have. If you enter through Dale Mabry or Crystal Lake Road entrance, you will park on our White or Green/Yellow parking areas. From there you can enter through the other large covered entrance, leading you to Welcome Center 1. This entrance is closest to the Preschool and Children’s areas. If you are a first time guest you may enter from Dale Mabry Hwy. or Crystal Lake Rd. and follow the directional signage leading you to the First Time Guest parking area.

Enter from Dale Mabry Hwy. or Crystal Lake Rd. Entrances and follow signs for “First-Time Visitor Parking” where special, up-close parking is available for you. If you have preschoolers and school age children, parking on the east side of the church (Dale Mabry or Crystal Lake Road parking lot entrances) will allow you to enter near our children’s classes.

shirt

What should I wear?

You are welcome at Idlewild just as you are. We have members in coat and tie, members in jeans and t-shirt, and everywhere in between. We meet to worship the Lord and fellowship with other believers. We believe that it’s the attitude of your heart that matters to God, rather than your physical appearance.

How can I serve others?

At Idlewild, you’ll find a service opportunity that fits your unique talents and abilities. You can serve the community by working on a team that does community outreach; you can get involved in the choir or orchestra; you can welcome guests who come to our campus; you can serve on an evangelism team or missions project; and so much more.

I still have questions.
