Ken Whitten
Senior Pastor

Thank the Lord with me for the Israel Tour me and Mrs. Ginny had the privilege to lead this fall. We were blessed beyond measure!

Pray for our health as we go into the holiday season.

Please pray for me as I plan my calendar for 2020. That I would be wise to take on what the Lord would have me do.

Pray for Mrs. Ginny with the many ministries she is involved in especially during the Christmas season.

God has given us a great ministry plan for the year 2020. Pray that He would bless it and use it to fulfill His purposes for us.

Dr. Ronnie Floyd will challenge us this month regarding prayer. Please pray that God would raise up more prayer warriors to join you in your praying efforts.

I will have a very intense week of speaking engagements this month. Please pray for every flight, Uber ride, and conversation. Pray God will use me to reach the lost and encourage the saints.

Your church staff and your deacons are praying, by name, for people that for whatever reason have stopped coming to church. Pray that we stay diligent on this assignment and that the Lord would stir hearts to return to His house.

Finally, pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to use me and inspire me to bring you God’s Word faithfully.

Brian McDougall
Executive Pastor

Diana: Please pray for Diana as she continues to recover from an orthopedic surgery.

Dad: He recently has had some health setbacks. Please continue to pray for Dad’s healing to speak more clearly and to swallow better, both issues are issues from a recent stroke. Thanks for your continued prayers for my very godly 96 year old Dad.

Leta: For my sister, that she will have health, courage and strength as she is the full time caregiver for my Dad. Since Dad’s recent health setback the level of care Leta provides has to be stepped up quite a bit. Leta is a godly pro, but needs our prayers for strength and endurance. Thanks for continuing to pray for Leta.

Logan and Aimee: Please rejoice with us on the news that Logan and Aimee are now expecting a baby boy. Please pray for the continued health of Aimee and the baby.

Lauren and Gabe: Praising God for their new married life together.

Church Vision and Mission: That our members would engage in the Vision and Mission of the Church.

LEAD: That LEAD(Leadership Engagement and Discipleship) would be effective in thousands of Idlewild members discovering their spiritual gifts, being equipped therein and serving in the area that God has planned for them (Eph. 2:10, 4:11-12). You will be hearing a lot more about “Join the Movement” as that is the messaging that has gone live to the Church for LEAD. Continue to pray for this movement; in about 30 days since we went live approximately 300 people have joined the movement. Please pray that 2,020 members by the end of 2020 will “Join the Movement” moving from no ministry and or mission involvement to actively serving where God wants them to serve.

Accelerate: Praising the Lord for the great progress that is being made by the generous givers of Idlewild to pay off the debt of the Church.

2020 Ministry Plan: Please pray for the communications regarding the ministry plan to be clear and well received by our members. The 2020 ministry plan booklets are now available with open house Q & A sessions occurring, leading to a final church approval on 11.13.19. Please pray that all questions are answered thoroughly and we move forward together as a unified Church to accomplish the mission that God has set before us.

Please pray that members would be led by the spirit to give generously at the end of year to make up for the year to date shortfalls to our 2019 Ministry Plan.

Please pray that all Idlewild members would joyfully have 1,000s of gospel conversations with those that are far from God.

Please pray for Revival in our Church.

Please pray for a smooth transfer and adjustments to a new facility by December. Pray for the Lord to fill her days with His Word and the encouragement and blessing of His presence. Pray for her to encounter the Holy Spirit’s presence each day and to maintain a sharp mind and to be able to be in the Word of God and fellowship with the body of Christ. Please pray for her to be physically comfortable.

Please pray for prayer to increase daily as the culture and practice at Idlewild. Pray also for special prayer events and seasons of prayer to motivate us to grow in the area of prayer and relationship with the Lord. Currently we are finalizing pray event plans for 2019 and now looking to 2020.

Prepare your hearts in prayer for the Worship services on Sunday, November 10, 2019 that have been set aside for seasons of prayer! Pastor Ronnie Floyd from Arkansas will lead the prayer services that day.

Please pray for the younger generations especially to know the Word of God in such a way as to be strong against the cultural attacks on the crucial doctrines and principles of Christianity. Pray that God will bring awakening and raise up laborers and that the culture will be freshly permeated with the Word of God.

Please pray that the Lord will use the new prayer webpage and other new prayer media to motivate prayer in His church including through the Watchman prayer wall, Praylude, the prayer room and other prayer groups and ministries. Please pray for hearts to be stirred toward the Lord and prayer by the scripture and quotes on the PRAY list on Wednesday nights.

God has blessed us with a beautiful pair of prayer rooms by the Fireside room. I hope you will go by and pray over the rooms and spend some time there, but especially pray that God will raise up a powerful ministry of prayer around those rooms and also throughout the body of Christ at Idlewild. I believe we are at the beginning of what God may do through prayer.

For Mary and I as we seek to continue to be in the center of God’s will for our lives.

For our three children, our one daughter-in-law, and our two granddaughters – whom we love with all our hearts!

For our fathers – Mary’s dad, Frank Patrick (age 87) and my father, Fred Hanes (age 92) – that the Lord would continue to bless them both with good health, strength, and joy as they continue to walk with Him!

For our upcoming JOY Ministry luncheon (November 14th) as Deana Troyer speaks to our seniors about our Special Needs Ministry and as The Portico Chorus provides our special music!

For our Bible Fellowship Groups that meet each Sunday morning – for the teachers and for the attendees who make it a priority to come and study God’s Word together.

I am still seeking two teachers for two different Sunday morning Bible Fellowship Groups during the 8 o’clock hour. Pray that the Lord will lead me to the right people to teach these two awesome classes!

Thank you for your prayers for our ongoing support groups: Celebrate Recovery, iWork, GriefShare, DivorceCare, Parents of Addicted Children, Depression Support Group, and Sister’s L.I.F.E. Groups.

For the countless number of folks I counsel with from week to week. The Lord has allowed me the great privilege to meet with people who are looking for God’s answers to life’s problems. Pray that they would discover His provision for their lives!

Deana Troyer
Manager, Special Needs Ministry

That I will focus on kingdom matters rather than personal agenda

That I will demonstrate love to my husband, family, friends and strangers as God loves me, as I desire to be loved

That each family member would seek God and see Him at work in our various struggles

That I will run to the Father rather than to anyone or anything else when I am stressed, uncomfortable or in need of rest

Growing inclusion of individuals with special needs and other differences, recognizing their value and their contributions within the mainstream of the church

Continued growth and unity in Deaf Ministry, including a new teacher needed for the 9:15 class and additional interpreters qualified both with strong skills and with holy hands to meet the various needs at both Lutz and The Springs. We are praising God for one new interpreter joining us last month. Please continue to pray for this vital ministry!

Barnabas Team Members – Individuals who have the heart to be strategic helpers in Preschool or Children’s Ministry for kids that need extra guidance on Sunday mornings, in Awana and in Worship Quest. This is a fabulous opportunity to invest time in one specific student, helping them participate at their level and grow in an inclusive setting with a variety of age-peers.

The students are working hard on their material for this year’s Christmas pageant. May God be glorified and our students have opportunities to share their gifts and their love for God and others.

Service and employment opportunities for our students who desire to live productive and fruitful lives. Several are already blessing our church body with their service.

JOY Luncheon next month will feature The Portico Chorus, an inclusive music group composed of teens and adults with various abilities and challenges. Some are members of Idlewild, while others are from the community. Pray for good connections between the church and the community.
