Week of 2/2/2020

Dr. Ken Whitten
Senior Pastor

Please continue to pray for my spiritual and physical health. Pray that my heart will continue to hunger and thirst for Jesus.

Please pray for Mrs. Ginny and all the projects that she is involved with. Pray that she will have wisdom as she leads Bible studies for women, serves in various ministries, helps with 14 grand-kids’ schedules, and takes care of this pastor.

Pray for Pastor Brian McDougall and my ministry assistant, Yerusha Bunag, as they help me prioritize my time and guide me through several decisions I need to make on a daily basis. Pray that their hearts will be filled with the Spirit as they help me lead/guide you.

Our staffing needs have increased. Pray that God would send us candidates that are godly, ministry-minded, and have an outstanding work ethic to fill all the open positions.

Pray for me as I have two speaking engagements this month: a Men’s conference at Watkinsville Baptist Church in Georgia, and a Bible Conference in South Fulton, Tennessee.

Pray for me as I prepare a new series to wrap up the book of Acts. Those are action-packed chapters! Pray that I will have wisdom to communicate God’s Word. Pray that our people’s hearts will be open to receive God’s Word and be prompted to join the movement.

There’s a ministry here at Idlewild that is close to my heart and that is I-Work. This month they will have a Job Fair here at Idlewild. This is not just a wonderful opportunity to help men and women find jobs, but also a way for us to give them the Gospel. Pray that many will come. Pray that many would have a life changing experience here – a new job and a new heart.

Brian McDougall
Executive Pastor

Thank you for your prayers for our ongoing support groups: Celebrate Recovery, iWork, GriefShare, DivorceCare, Parents of Addicted Children, Depression Support Group, and Sister’s L.I.F.E. Groups.

For the countless number of folks I counsel with from week to week. The Lord has allowed me the great privilege to meet with people who are looking for God’s answers to life’s difficult situations. Pray that they would discover His provision for their lives!

Deana Troyer
Manager, Special Needs Ministry

That I will focus on kingdom matters rather than personal agenda

That I will demonstrate love to my husband, family, friends and strangers

That each family member would seek God and see Him at work in our various struggles

That I will run to the Father rather than to anyone or anything else when I am stressed, uncomfortable or in need of rest

Classroom help for Wednesday evenings, particularly with our elementary age kids. We do music and/or art on Wednesdays, along with a devotion. Helpers in this class engage with individual children, based on their needs. On the job training and ongoing guidance is provided.

Communication is a huge obstacle for some of our kids and adults. We are learning more about a method that has unlocked the door for some of them and are looking at ways to make that available to other families. It is truly life-changing. Pray that we handle this opportunity in a way that is truly beneficial to those who need it most. Imagine never hearing your child tell you about his day at school, or not being able to tell you her tummy hurts or that someone hurt them on the bus. This is the reality for many of our families. Now imagine you and your child are learning together a method that allows them to tell you these things and more. Imagine learning from your child that she wants to advocate for others who cannot speak for themselves. Imagine your son telling you he likes learning about quantum physics. Imagine watching as your teenager spells out, one letter at a time, that they have asked Jesus to save them. Imagine, as a teacher, watching a young adult who is visiting the church for the first time use this same method to spell out to his mother, “I feel the love here.” These are just some of the amazing things that have happened recently and we want to open up this possibility to other students who can benefit. Pray for God’s guidance in this opportunity.

Continued growth and unity in Deaf Ministry, including a new teacher needed for the 9:15 class and additional interpreters qualified both with strong skills and with holy hands to meet the various needs at both Lutz and The Springs. We are praising God for one new interpreter joining us last month. Please continue to pray for this vital ministry!

Barnabas Team Members – Individuals who have the heart to be strategic helpers in Preschool or Children’s Ministry for kids that need extra guidance on Sunday mornings, in Awana and in Worship Quest. This is a fabulous opportunity to invest time in one specific student, helping them participate at their level and grow in an inclusive setting with a variety of age-peers.

Service and employment opportunities for our students who desire to live productive and fruitful lives. Many are already blessing our church body with their service.
