Prayer Requests:

Ken Whitten
Sr. Pastor

Ministry

  1. God has given me an amazing opportunity to speak to UN Ambassadors in an event called UN Easter Celebration. I have been to many countries, but I have never been in one room with over 100 nations represented. I have an opportunity to bring the Gospel to this group of dignitaries. Please pray that I have God’s words to speak TRUTH that will transcend culture, religion, and race.
  2. I can’t stop rejoicing from the amazing Men’s Conference we had early this month with Tony and Jonathan Evans. Please pray that the challenges given to our men and this pastor will continue to echo in our hearts for the long run. That we will be focused on being “Kingdom Men.”
  3. Our staff has already begun planning and preparations for Easter. Can you please pray for an Easter miracle? We know our casual attenders will come, we know that even unchurched people will come. But would you pray that the Spirit would captivate their hearts to RETURN the next week?
  4. I am enjoying going through the book of James. There is no sugarcoating in this book. I am also excited about our studying of the life of Gideon in the book of Joshua on Wednesday nights. Please pray that the Lord would reveal new truths to me as I study these two passages of Scripture.
  5. Please pray for an opportunity that has risen for a football camp for inner city children with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this summer. Pray that I have wisdom in this initial phase talks. That God will give us favor to reach needy kids with the Gospel through football.

Personal

  1. Please continue to pray for my spiritual and physical health as we enter this new season of Easter and summer events.
  2. Please pray for me, Mrs. Ginny, and others from Idlewild as we prepare to go to Southern Baptist Convention this June. Pray for our SBC president JD Greear in his next year as our president – there are many challenges ahead.
  3. Please pray for my grandchildren. I love them so much! Pray that they stay close to the Lord and fall in love with Jesus more and more each day.
  4. This is a recurring request for me but it is a burden in my heart for our members and attenders who have stopped coming to church regularly. Pray that God will take all the cultural distractions that hinder families and individuals from coming to hear the Word of God.
  5. Lastly, continue to pray that God will give me, the pastors of this church, and all our staff wisdom to engage and disciple our people.

Personal

  1. For son Daniel, who recently transitioned into the business world after many years working in the tech ministry at IBC
  2. For all of my family – husband Ray, our children, grands and great-grands – that all would grow in grace, wisdom and faith
  3. For personal discipline in my time with the Lord and with other significant relationships, that I would not allow tasks to come before relationships

Ministry

  1. For God’s wisdom to lead a growing and diverse ministry full of unique blessings and opportunities
  2. For discipline and efficiency in my time, that I might accomplish what God desires and what the ministry needs
  3. For unity and growth in our Deaf Ministry
  4. That I would demonstrate care for all members and leaders in these ministries in ways that they feel loved
  5. For two people to come alongside –
    • There is one person I’ve been praying about specifically, to help with developing certain programs to benefit our families
    • A volunteer with organizational skills to set up a system to manage the physical items that are available for the ministry to use
